We are excited to announce that Kate Cooper of Montreal has won our Ernie Ball Music Man St. Vincent Signature Guitar giveaway contest. Her name was selected at random through Random.org.

Cooper has been playing guitar since she was 16, falling in love with the instrument after her dad took her to see the Rolling Stones. Today she works in the music industry as an A&R person for online production libraries PremiumBeat / Shutterstock.
In addition to her day job, Cooper is one half of the indie duo An Horse which opened for Tegan & Sara on tour in 2010 but went on hiatus shortly after the release of their second album, Walls in 2011 (Cooper subsequently released a solo album under her last name). However, Cooper told us that winning the St. Vincent Signature Guitar comes at a rather serendipitous time in her musical journey. “This timing is awesome because Damon [Cox, her bandmate] is coming up to Montreal once he finishes a tour with Brand New so we can write some new songs,” she said.
“I love all music,” she continues. “From Kylie to Fugazi. Seriously. I grew up listening to Motown and 60s rock, cut my teeth listening to riot grrrl, and toured with so many amazing people that continue to shape me musically. So what am I gonna do with this guitar? Get inspired to write a new record.”
